T.J. Taylor came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second overtime to lift North Texas to a 77-72 win over Portland Saturday night.
Taylor, who finished with a team-high 21 points, hit a jumper with :22 left in the first overtime to tie the game at 63-63 and force a second extra period.
Chris Jones finished with 12 points for the Mean Green (3-3). His layup with :16 left in regulation tied the game at 53-53 and his defensive rebound on a Ryan Nichols shot at the buzzer forced overtime.
Thomas van der Mars led Portland (3-3) with 21 points, with Nichols and Kevin Bailey both adding 15 points. Nichols finished with a game-high 16 rebounds.
Van der Mars hit back--to-back baskets in the first overtime to put Portland up by four, 68-58 with 1:38 left.
