Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Memphis Grizzlies All-Star center Marc Gasol is out indefinitely with a MCL sprain in his left knee.
Gasol left Friday's 102-86 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the second quarter with the injury.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year was hurt on a non-contact play early in the period. Gasol was defending Jeff Ayres in the post, and as Ayres went to receive an entry pass from Manu Ginobili, Gasol limped off the court in obvious pain.
An MRI on Saturday revealed a MCL sprain. No surgery will be required.
Gasol is averaging 16.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 13 games this season. He has missed just four games dating back to the start of the 2010-11 season.
