Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Houston Texans punter Shane Lechler was released from the hospital Friday and could play Sunday against the Oakland Raiders despite battling the flu this week.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Lechler will be a game-time decision but that he expects the punter will be ready to play against his former team.
"I don't even know if we'll ask him to come in tomorrow, but he'll be there," said Kubiak. "Heck, he knows what he's doing. He's talked to (special teams coordinator) Joe (Marciano). I don't have any doubt that he'll be ready to play."
Lechler, 37, spent his first 13 NFL seasons with the Raiders and Sunday would be his first chance to punt against his former team.
Cornerback Elbert Mack (hamstring/groin) and tight end Ryan Griffin (concussion) will miss the game for Houston. Cornerback Kareem Jackson (chest) and linebackers Joe Mays (knee/abdomen) and Mike Mohamed (hamstring) are questionable to play.
