The National Hockey League issued a three-game suspension to Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri on Thursday.

Kadri drew the ban for colliding with Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom at the 7:07 mark of the first period in the Wild's eventual 2-1 shootout victory. The visiting center was given a minor penalty for goaltender interference.

Later in the contest, Kadri delivered a blatant hit to the head of Wild forward Mikael Granlund, drawing a major and a match penalty.

The 23-year-old will not be eligible to return to the ice until Toronto hosts Nashville on Nov. 21. He will miss a home-and-home set with the Buffalo Sabres Friday and Saturday as well as a tilt on Nov. 19 against the Islanders.

Kadri will forfeit $44,615.37 in salary, which goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
