English soccer legend David Beckham had dinner Tuesday, Nov. 12, with Bolivian wireless mogul Marcelo Claure and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Giménez, the Miami Herald reported.

Beckham, whose contract when he first joined the Los Angeles Galaxy stipulated he would be able to purchase a new MLS franchise for $25 million, is hoping to start a team in the Miami area.

Claure, the billionaire founder of Brightstar, is a potential partner in the venture. The two men were reportedly touring sites today for a potential stadium, as the existing possibilities – Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida International University’s Alfonso Field and Marlins Park in Little Havana – all have drawbacks.

Also arriving in Miami today was the Brazilian national soccer team, in town for a friendly against Honduras on Saturday. When star striker Neymar ran into the Real Madrid legend, cameras were whipped out and photos of the two men were instantly Instagrammed, according to the Mirror in London.

“David Beckham … Craque!!!” Neymar commented, using slang for a great footballer.

Too bad Posh is missing all the fun.
