Ian Markolf had a double-double on Monday night to lead Incarnate Word over cross-town neighbor Trinity of Texas 74-62.
Kyle Hittle led the Cardinals in scoring with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting and Markolf had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Incarnate Word (2-0) led the entire second half but struggled to break away. They led only 49-48 with 12:43 remaining following a layup by Trinity's Jimmy Clark. The Cardinals held Trinity to a single free throw over the next 5:30 to take control of the game 60-49. Incarnate Word pushed the lead to 74-59 before the conclusion.
Jonathan Wilt had 16 points and Robert Kitzinger had 13 points for Trinity. William Young added six assists.
