OREM, Utah – Ben Aird scored 15 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds as Utah State beat North Carolina A&T 78-71 on Monday night.
Utah Valley (2-0) had to use a late run to pull away from a stubborn North Carolina A&T (1-1) team. The Wolverines built up a 12-point lead early in the second half, but the Aggies chipped away and got the lead to one with 6:45 remaining.
Utah Valley responded, going on a 5-0 run. They pushed the lead up to 12 with 1:57 left after Holton Hunsaker hit two 3-point field goals.
Hunsaker led the team with 16 points but shot 4 of 15, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. Five different Wolverines finished in double figures.
Lamont Middleton led the Aggies, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Richaud Pack also scored 15 points while Bruce Beckford added 14.
