BERKELEY, Calif. – A former women's basketball player at California whose career was derailed because of a rare heart condition has earned her degree.
Four years ago, highly touted guard Tierra Rogers collapsed and stopped breathing outside the Cal training room. While she never played for the Golden Bears, Rogers attended practice whenever possible and played a part in Cal's trip to the Final Four in New Orleans.
Rogers battled depression and sought counseling, but stayed in school to earn her bachelor's degree in African-American Studies. She posted a photo of her diploma on her Twitter account with the message that "Without God, Support & Family this wouldn't have been possible."
