San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis sustained a concussion in the first half of Sunday's game against Carolina and was taken to the locker room before halftime for evaluation.
Davis took a hard hit from Panthers safety Mike Mitchell with 7:19 left in the first half near the goal line on an incomplete pass targeted for him. The team announced early in the second half his evaluation revealed a concussion.
Davis had one catch for 2 yards Sunday, when San Francisco also lost No. 3 tight end Garrett Celek in the first quarter to a hamstring injury. Davis has 30 catches for 520 yards and seven touchdowns this season as one of Kaepernick's top options.
