Avondale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brad Keselowski made it a weekend sweep in NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series pole wins at Phoenix International Raceway.
Keselowski won the first full session of knockout-style qualifying in Nationwide on Saturday after turning a lap around this one-mile oval at 134.053 mph during the second and final round. On Friday, he captured the pole in the inaugural knockout qualifying in Sprint Cup by setting a new track record at 139.384 mph.
Keselowski, who drives the No. 22 Ford for Team Penske, claimed his 15th career pole in Nationwide.
Denny Hamlin was the last driver who scored a weekend sweep of poles at the same racetrack. Hamlin claimed the top starting positions for the Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series races at Martinsville in October 2013.
Brian Scott, the driver of the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, finished only 0.002 seconds behind Keselowski to earn the outside pole.
Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth qualified third and fourth, respectively. Busch started on the pole and won both Nationwide races at Phoenix last year. He had the fastest lap in round one of qualifying.
Starting fifth through 10th will be: rookie Ty Dillon, Elliott Sadler, Kevin Harvick, Regan Smith, who won last weekend's Nationwide season-opener at Daytona, Kyle Larson and Trevor Bayne.
The new qualifying format was used for the first time in Nationwide at Daytona. Dylan Kwasniewski won the pole there, despite qualifying being shortened due to rain.
Kwasniewski failed to advance into the second round in Phoenix Nationwide qualifying by just 0.018 seconds. The 18-year-old rookie will start 13th in the race.
All 39 drivers who competed in qualifying made the starting field for Saturday's 200-mileevent, which is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. ET.
