New Texas athletic director Steve Patterson says he doesn't see a need for a dramatic turnaround in the department and that he won't make changes just to shake things up.

Patterson was introduced as the new leader of the wealthiest athletic program in the country at a campus news conference Thursday. Patterson said he didn't discuss the Longhorns individual sports programs during his job interview.

Patterson was at Arizona State and takes over a program led by DeLoss Dodds for the last 32 years. He inherits a rich program that has struggled in recent years to meet expectations in football, men's basketball and baseball.

Patterson's contract is expected to be approved by university regents next week.
