Roux's double sees Lille stun Monaco

Lille, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Nolan Roux scored on either side of the interval on Sunday as Lille stunned Monaco by a 2-0 count at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole.

Coming off a solid 1-0 victory over Nantes in league play last week, Lille was on the front foot for most of the first half before opening the scoring three minutes prior to the half-hour mark when Roux bagged his first goal of the afternoon.

Lille took the one-goal margin in the locker room at the break and put the result away 19 minutes from time after Roux completed his brace when he ran onto a through ball from Rio Mavuba and fired it home.

Monaco kept over 60 percent of possession during the 90 minutes and fired seven shots on target but were never able to get one past Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to suffer their first defeat of the campaign.

The result sees Lile leapfrog Monaco for second place in Ligue 1 with 26 points, while the principality club falls to third on 25 points.

Elsewhere in Ligue 1 on Sunday, Bordeaux struck on either side of the intermission to top Nice by a 2-1 count at the Stade Municipal du Ray. Gregory Sertic opened the scoring for Bordeaux and Ludovic Obraniak made it 2-0 just prior to the hour mark.

Dario Cvitanich pulled one back 13 minutes from time when he converted a penalty kick, but it wasn't enough as Bordeaux held on to claim its fourth win of the season.

Djamel Bakar netted a stoppage-time equalizer as Montpellier earned a 1-1 draw with Nantes at the Stade de la Mosson. Filip Djordjevic found the net for Nantes 22 minutes in and it looked to be the winner, but Bakar had other ideas as his goal deep in stoppage time saved a point for his side.
