CSKA Moscow will play Bayern in partly closed stadium for fans racially abusing Man City

CSKA Moscow will play Bayern Munich in a partly closed stadium as punishment for fans racially abusing Manchester City players at a Champions League match.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel found "racist behavior" by fans occurred during Man City's 2-1 win last week in Moscow. A section will be closed for the match against defending champion Bayern on Nov. 27 in Arena Khimki.

Man City captain Yaya Toure directed referee Ovidiu Hategan toward fans making monkey noises at the English club's black players, but no stadium announcement was made to warn fans about their behavior.

The Romanian referee was cleared of a failure to follow UEFA protocol. Instead, UEFA says a stadium official was fired.

CSKA can appeal. UEFA has punished nine clubs this season for racist behavior by fans.
