Rodney Hood scores 19 in Duke preseason warmup win over Bowie State

Rodney Hood scored 19 points to help Duke beat Bowie State 103-67 Saturday in an exhibition game.

Freshman Jabari Parker added 16 points for the Blue Devils, who blew open the game with an 18-2 spurt in the second half. Amile Jefferson and Matt Jones had 15 points apiece for Duke.

The Blue Devils led 22-21 midway through the first half before Hood sparked a 10-2 run. He made a free throw, a shot in the paint and a jumper to push Duke ahead 32-23 with seven minutes left in the half.

Duke led 54-40 at halftime despite allowing the Bulldogs to shoot 58 percent from the floor.

Brian Freeman finished with 17 points for Division II Bowie State and Ray Gatling added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

The Blue Devils shot 46 percent, including 7 of 30 from 3-point range.
