Richard Childress Racing announced on Friday that Brendan Gaughan will compete for the Nationwide Series championship next season.

Gaughan, who is currently 10th in the truck series, will drive the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro. He will join Ty Dillon, who will pilot the No. 3 Camaro, and Brian Scott in the No. 2 Chevy.

"It is great to have Brendan Gaughan and South Point back with us for another season," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "Brendan has proved he can race and win in NASCAR. We're looking forward to having him with us full time next year in the Nationwide Series driving the No. 62 South Point Chevrolet Camaro. Michael Gaughan has been a big supporter of RCR, and racing in general, for many years and it's a privilege to have him and Brendan as part of our team in 2014.

"This gives us a very competitive Nationwide Series lineup for next year, and I look forward to winning races with all three of our drivers."

The 38-year-old Las Vegas native has competed throughout NASCAR's top three tours over the past 17 seasons. He has 84 career NNS starts with one pole, nine top-five's and 22 top 19 finishes. Crew chief Shane Wilson will continue his long-time relationship with Gaughan that dates back to 2001, when the driver made his debut in the truck series.

Gaughan has eight wins in the truck series. His career-best finish in the Nationwide Series was second at Charlotte in 2009.
