Moscow, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - French star Richard Gasquet highlighted Thursday's second-round winners at the Kremlin Cup tennis event.

The top-seeded U.S. Open semifinalist held off game Russian Evgeny Donskoy 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 on the indoor hardcourts at Olympic Stadium.

Upsets came when Kazakhstani qualifier Mikhail Kukushkin dumped fourth-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4, 6-4 and 6-foot-10 Croat Ivo Karlovic saved a match point before taking out fifth-seeded Uzbekistanian Denis Istomin 6-3, 6-7 (10-12), 7-6 (8-6).

Another second-round result saw Russian wild card Teymuraz Gabashvili get past Israeli Dudi Sela 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 6-1. Gabashvili is rewarded with a quarterfinal against the world No. 10 Gasquet.

The other quarters will pit second-seeded and defending champion Andreas Seppi of Italy against Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Karlovic versus Russian wild card Karen Khachanov, and Kukushkin against Kazakhstani qualifier Andrey Golubev.

Seppi beat Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci in last year's Moscow finale.

The 2013 Moscow titlist will collect $134,800.
