Florham Park, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Jets signed wide receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs and placed running back Mike Goodson and wide receiver/kick returner Clyde Gates on injured reserve Tuesday.

Cribbs hasn't played a game this season after having left knee surgery in the offseason. He went to training camp with the Oakland Raiders, but was cut before the start of the season.

During his eight-year career, all with the Browns, he has 107 receptions for 1,161 yards and seven touchdowns. Known more for his kick and punt return ability, Cribbs has amassed 2,154 punt return yards and three touchdowns, while recording 10,015 yards and eight scores on kick returns.

The Jets are expected to be without wide receiver Santonio Holmes (hamstring) for a third straight week on Sunday and Gates, who has a shoulder injury, was serving as the primary kick returner and as a wideout.

Goodson, the back-up kick returner, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He carried the ball seven times for 61 yards in two games this season after missing the first four games for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Gates had 12 catches for 122 yards, while returning nine kickoffs for 209 yards this season.

The Jets also signed wide receiver Greg Salas from the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, signed running back Miguel Maysonet to their practice squad and released linebacker Troy Davis from the practice squad.
