Osaka, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Third-seeded Samantha Stosur advanced to the semifinals at the Japan Women's Open on Friday.
The 2009 Osaka champion and 2011 runner-up was a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 winner over Japan's own Misaki Doi.
Next up for Stosur will be sixth-seeded 18-year-old American Madison Keys, who defeated China's Zheng Jie 6-3, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Utsubo Tennis Center.
Fifth-seeded Canadian Eugenie Bouchard rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Czech qualifier Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Her semifinal opponent will be Japanese wild card Kurumi Nara, a 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-1 victor against Slovenian Polona Hercog.
