After an 18-day break, the PGA Tour is back in action.
Bryce Molder hit the opening shot of the 2013-14 season on a chilly Thursday morning at CordeValle in the Frys.com Open. It's the first time the PGA Tour has gone to a wraparound season, after nearly a century of starting in January.
This is the first of six tournaments in the fall — two of them in Asia — before a six-week break until it resumes at Kapalua.
The change to an October start was to make the fall tournaments part of the FedEx Cup. The tour risked losing those tournaments without the change.
Three players at CordeValle were playing the Presidents Cup last week, including Hideki Matsuyama of Japan and Marc Leishman of Australia.
