Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves finalized their roster for the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and veteran second baseman Dan Uggla was left off the unit.
Uggla batted just .179 with 22 home runs and underwent Lasik surgery in August to repair problems with his vision. He was replaced at second base by Elliot Johnson, who is expected to start at second when the series commences on Thursday.
The Braves put 11 pitchers on the roster, with Thursday's starter Kris Medlen joining fellow rotation members Mike Minor and Julio Teheran.
Alex Wood and Freddy Garcia are in the mix as swingmen, while left-hander Luis Avilan joins right-handers Luis Ayala, David Carpenter, David Hale, Jordan Walden and closer Craig Kimbrel in Atlanta's bullpen.
With Uggla off the roster, the Braves will carry just five infielders, with first baseman Freddie Freeman, shortstop Andrelton Simmons, third baseman Chris Johnson and utilityman Paul Janish filling out the infield.
Jason Heyward, B.J. Upton, Justin Upton, Jose Constanza, Reed Johnson and Jordan Schafer make up Atlanta's outfield, while Evan Gattis, Gerald Laird and Brian McCann will serve as the Braves' backstops.
