The NCAA has granted a waiver for guard Eli Carter to begin playing at Florida this season after completing a transfer from Rutgers.

Carter decided to transfer after head coach Mike Rice was fired by Rutgers in April for his volatile behavior toward players.

"We are happy to have Eli available to play this season," said Gators coach Billy Donovan on Monday.

The junior shooting guard is still recovering from a broken leg he sustained in February. He was averaging 14.9 points in 24 games before the injury.

Carter averaged 14.3 points in 56 games, including 46 starts, in two seasons for the Scarlet Knights. He has also made 94 career 3-pointers.
