Monaco held by Reims

Monaco regained the top spot in Ligue 1 on Sunday, but only on goal difference as the club was held to a 1-1 draw at Reims.

Monaco is now level on points with PSG as the two French heavyweights remain the only unbeaten sides in the league.

Reims got off to the ideal start as Antoine Devaux scored inside of four minutes after latching on to a flick from Atila Turan.

However, Joao Moutinho answered back nine minutes later with a well-placed free kick that he curled in off the post.

The two goalkeepers were responsible for the game remaining deadlocked at 1-1, although Monaco netminder Danijel Subasic had to feel a bit fortunate in the second half when he was beaten by a shot from Reims midfielder Odair Fortes, only for the ball to crash against the crossbar.

Reims had to play the final few minutes with 10 men after Turan was sent off for collecting a second yellow card in a nasty tackle on Monaco's James Rodriguez. But there wasn't enough time for the visitors to make their advantage count.

Nantes moved into sixth place after securing a 3-1 away win against Rennes.

The visitors built a 2-0 halftime lead with goals from Filip Djordjevic and Serge Gakpe, while Lucas Deaux sealed the win in stoppage time with a goal after Rennes pulled one back in the 55th through Nelson Oliveira.

Sunday's other match saw Montpellier play to its sixth draw in eight games as the club ended 1-1 with Ajaccio.

Remy Cabella's penalty kick in the 10th minute put Montpellier ahead, but Ronald Zubar equalized before halftime despite Ajaccio playing with 10 men.
