BEREA, Ohio – Injured Browns starting quarterback Brandon Weeden threw the football for the first time since spraining his right thumb.
Weeden, who got hurt in Week 2 against Baltimore, says he made 40 tosses Friday during Cleveland's practice as the Browns prepared to face Cincinnati. Weeden threw a baseball and softball on Thursday before graduating to a football.
Weeden says he's made a quicker recovery than originally expected, but does not know when he'll be able to play.
He was replaced last week by Brian Hoyer, who led the Browns to their first win in just his second NFL start. Weeden doesn't know if he'll have his starting job back when he returns.
Weeden praises Hoyer's performance and says the only thing he learned standing on the sideline is "don't get hurt."
