New York, NY – Ending a holdout which has lasted for the entire preseason, the New York Rangers and restricted free-agent forward Derek Stepan agreed to terms on a new contract.
No terms of the pact were disclosed by the club, but the New York Post reported Thursday that it's a two-year deal worth $6.15 million for the duration.
Stepan totaled 18 goals and 26 assists while participating in all 48 regular- season games for the Blueshirts a season ago, the final campaign on his original three-year deal. He added four scores and one helper in 12 playoff tilts as the Rangers lost in the second round to the Boston Bruins.
The 23-year-old Minnesota native and Wisconsin product has not missed a game in his three-year career, taking part in all 212 scheduled contests, picking up 56 goals and 140 points, along with 14 points in 37 playoff appearances.
