Former San Diego Chargers DB Paul Oliver has committed suicide at age 29, according to a report by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Chargers acknowledged his death in a statement on Wednesday.
"Everyone in the Chargers family is sad today after hearing the news about Paul," the team said. "He was part of our family for five years. At just 29 years old, he still had a lifetime in front of him. Right now all of our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this most difficult time."
Oliver played five seasons for the Chargers and collegiately with Georgia but has not played in the NFL since the 2011 season.
