Auburn coach Gus Malzahn says starting wide receiver Jaylon Denson is out for the season.

Malzahn said Wednesday the loss of Denson to a left leg injury is "a huge blow" and he expects the role to be filled by committee. Denson has posted on Twitter that he sustained a torn patellar tendon in the LSU game.

He has started all four games and has three catches for 45 yards, but also was one of the Tigers' top downfield blockers.

Denson appeared to be breaking free of LSU defensive backs when he tripped on a rain-soaked field while tracking the ball.

Denson remained on the field long after the pass fell incomplete..

The Tigers have a bye this week.
