Woburn, MA – Jared Remy, the son of longtime Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, has been indicted by a grand jury for murder in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend last month.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced the charges Tuesday. Jared Remy, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Oct. 8.
Remy, 35, has been charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and violating a restraining order.
His girlfriend, Jennifer Martel, was found fatally stabbed at their townhouse on Aug. 15, two days after she obtained an emergency restraining order against Remy following his arrest on alleged assault and battery.
Remy, covered in blood, was arrested at the scene. Neighbors who witnessed the altercation and tried to help Martel were reportedly kept away as Remy slashed at them.
Jerry Remy, a former Red Sox second baseman who is a color analyst for games on the New England Sports Network, took a leave of absence for the rest of the season.
