The National Hockey League issued an undisclosed fine to Buffalo Sabres head coach Ron Rolston as a result of his actions during Sunday's preseason contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Rolston placed enforcer John Scott across from Toronto forward Phil Kessel, and also selected Corey Tropp to counter the Leafs' Jamie Devane midway through the third period of an eventual 5-3 Toronto victory.
Scott initiated an altercation with Kessel and Tropp did the same with Devane, touching off a brawl which eventually led to a combined 211 penalty minutes between both sides, plus the 10-game suspension of Maple Leafs winger David Clarkson for leaving the bench to come to Kessel's aid.
