The Tampa Bay Rays activated reliever Jesse Crain from the 60-day disabled list on Monday.
Crain was on the DL with a strained right shoulder when the Rays acquired him from the Chicago White Sox in late July.
The 32-year-old allowed only three earned runs and recorded 46 strikeouts over 36 2/3 innings with the White Sox this season, earning a selection to the All- Star Game, but didn't play due to his injury. He last pitched in the majors on June 29.
The Rays designated pitcher J.D. Martin for assignment in a corresponding move.
