Rosol moves on in Bangkok

Eighth-seeded Lukas Rosol was a first- round winner Tuesday at the Thailand Open.

Rosol smashed 16 aces in a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Lukasz Kubot.

Bernard Tomic was leading Ivo Karlovic 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 4-2 when the Croat retired from the match. Next up for Tomic is fourth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon.

Elsewhere, Slovak Lukas Lacko beat Colombia's Alejandro Falla 6-3, 6-2, Japan's Go Soeda rallied past Colombia's Santiago Giraldo 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, Marinko Matosevic cruised past Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul 6-1, 6-1 and Roberto Bautista Agut took down Marco Chiudinelli 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

The 2013 Bangkok titlist will earn $102,450.
