A day after trading running back Trent Richardson to the Colts, the Cleveland Browns signed running back Willis McGahee on Thursday.

The move became official after the veteran passed a team physical.

McGahee rushed for 731 yards with four touchdowns in 10 games for the Denver Broncos last season before going down with a torn MCL in his right knee. The Broncos released him in the offseason.

He had visited the New York Giants last week when that club was looking for help in the backfield. However, the Giants opted for Brandon Jacobs instead.

In 130 career games, McGahee has rushed for 8,097 yards with 63 touchdowns. He also has 202 catches for 1,319 yards and five scores, while his 33 career 100-yard rushing games are tied for second-most among active players.
