Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jered Weaver has been scratched from Friday's scheduled start against Seattle, the team has announced.
Weaver had been experiencing tightness in his right forearm during an outing in Minnesota on Sept. 9, but was able to take his regular turn this past Saturday at Houston and held the Astros to two runs over six innings to notch his 10th win of the season.
The three-time All-Star has compiled a 10-8 record with a 3.36 earned run average in 23 starts this year.
Matt Shoemaker will make his major league debut in Weaver's place.
A non-drafted free agent signed by the Angels in 2008, Shoemaker went 11-13 with a 4.64 ERA in 29 starts for Triple-A Salt Lake this season.
