New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck is slated to miss time after suffering a skate laceration during Tuesday's preseason game against the Calgary Flames,

Clutterbuck left a 5-3 loss to the Flames at the Saddledome in the third period after absorbing a hit from Calgary defenseman Dennis Wideman. Newsday reported on Wednesday that Isles head coach Jack Capuano stated the gritty winger "will miss some extended time" recovering from the injury.

The 25-year-old Ontario native was signed to a four-year deal worth a reported $11 million in early July after being acquired from Minnesota in a draft-day trade that sent prospect Nino Niederreiter to the Wild.
