Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen will miss the rest of the season due to a hip injury.
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano made the announcement during Wednesday's press conference.
Allen exited Indianapolis' 21-17 season-opening victory over Oakland on Sept. 8 and was originally considered a game-time decision for Week 2.
The second-year Clemson product caught 45 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns a year ago. He hauled in just one pass -- a 20-yard TD reception -- this season.
Second-year tight end Coby Fleener will start in Allen's place.
The Colts travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers on Sunday.
