Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Matt Reynolds will undergo surgery next Tuesday to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, the team has announced.

Reynolds was attempting to come back from a strained elbow that has sidelined him since June, but recently experienced a setback in his rehab. The 28-year- old will likely miss a large portion of the 2014 season recovering from the upcoming procedure.

Acquired from the Colorado Rockies in November, Reynolds was having a solid first year in Arizona prior to getting hurt. The lefty specialist produced a 1.98 earned run average with two saves in 30 appearances out of the bullpen.
