A suicide squeeze by Logan Schafer in the bottom of the ninth brought home the winning run, and the Milwaukee Brewers picked up a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Schafer came up to face Justin Grimm (0-2) with the bases loaded and one out. Jeff Bianchi stood at third and broke for home when Schafer dropped a bunt down the third base line.

The Cubs didn't see it coming and Bianchi scored easily to lift the Brewers to victory, their fifth in six games.

"Schafer is a good bunter. He did a nice job on that," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke.

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the win. Jim Henderson (5-5) picked tossed a scoreless ninth behind seven solid innings from starter Marco Estrada. He allowed three runs and struck out seven.

Welington Castillo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Cubs, losers of four straight and six of seven.

"We had our opportunities a couple different times and just couldn't get 'em over, couldn't get 'em in," said Cubs manager Dale Sveum.

Estrada had retired 17 of the 19 batters he faced through six innings, scattering just a pair of singles while pitching to a 1-0 lead. However, the Cubs finally got to the right-hander in the seventh.

Junior Lake doubled to begin the frame, then moved to third on a groundout by Anthony Rizzo. Nate Schierholtz walked to put runners at the corners and Ryan Sweeney lifted a game-tying sacrifice fly to plate Lake. Castillo then followed with a two-run blast over the left-field wall to stake the Cubs to a 3-1 lead.

Milwaukee answered right back in the bottom half, however. After Aramis Ramirez drew a leadoff walk, Gomez sent a Jeff Samardzija offering into the left field seats to tie things up at 3-3.

Samardzija struck out eight for the Cubs over seven innings, charged with the three runs on five hits. He was pitching from behind after the second inning, when Gomez reached him for a sac fly.

Game Notes
