Lightning forces suspension of play during first quarter of Saints-Buccaneers

Sunday's game between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been suspended because of lightning with 10:30 remaining in the first quarter.

Play was stopped after Garrett Hartley kicked a 44-yard field goal to give the Saints a 3-0 lead and the ensuing kickoff resulted in a touchback.

Heavy rain, thunder and lightning sent fans scurrying for cover at Raymond James Stadium.

The teams jogged off the field after game officials huddled and made the decision to suspend play.
