Lazio cruises past Chievo

Lazio produced three first-half goals to secure a convincing 3-0 victory over Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Antonio Candreva opened the scoring just eight minutes into the affair, netting his second league goal of the season.

The home side then put the match to rest just before halftime thanks to Luis Pedro Cavanda's strike in the 38th minute and Senad Lulic's goal three minutes later.

It was a bounce back result for Lazio after suffering a 4-1 loss to Juventus last time out, bringing the club to seventh place in Serie A on six points through three games.

Chievo has lost back-to-back matches to remain on one point after opening the season with a scoreless draw against Parma.

Hellas Verona 2, Sassuolo 0

Verona, Italy - Hellas Verona netted a goal in both halves at the Stadio M.A. Bentegodi on Sunday as the club defeated fellow newly-promoted side Sassuolo, 2-1.

Raphael Martinho got Hellas Verona off the mark just 12 minutes in, a lead that the club held until the third minute of second-half stoppage time when Romulo put the match out of reach.

The win lifts Hellas Verona to eighth place on six points while Sassuolo, still searching for its first point in the top flight, remains bottom of the table.

Livorno 2, Catania 0

Livorno, Italy - Paulo Sergio Betanin needed just seven minutes to bag a brace at the Stadio Armando Picchi on Sunday as his effort gave Livorno a 2-0 victory over Catania.

After a scoreless opening period, Betanin gave the home side the edge by scoring the opener in the 65th minute. He then added to the lead in the 72nd minute to leave Catania in an even deeper hole from which it was unable to climb out.

Livorno has won two straight to improve to six points while winless Catania remains on zero points.

Fiorentina 1, Cagliari 1

Florence, Italy - Fiorentina dropped its first points of the season on Sunday as the club was held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi by Cagliari.

The match was scoreless until the 71st minute when Borja Valero handed the home side the lead, but Mauricio Ferreira Pinilla struck in the 89th minute to earn Cagliari a share of the spoils.

David Pizarro was sent off in stoppage time to make matters worse for Fiorentina, which climbs to third place in Serie A despite leaving two points on the table. Cagliari improves to four points.

Udinese 1, Bologna 1

Udine, Italy - Antonio Di Natale struck five minutes from time to give Udinese a point from a 1-1 draw with Bologna at the Stadio Friuli on Sunday.

Alessandro Diamanti had given visiting Bologna the lead in the 71st minute, but Di Natale's goal, his first of the season, proved to be enough to prevent Udinese from coming away empty handed.

Udinese climbs to 10th place on four points, two points better than Bologna.

Genoa 3, Sampdoria 0

Genoa, Italy - Genoa snapped a string of back-to-back losses to start the season with a 3-0 win at Sampdoria on Sunday.

Luca Antonini put the visitors in front after nine minutes when he finished off a cross from Davide Biondini, while Emanuele Calaio doubled the lead five minutes after the break when he was set up by Sime Vrsaljko.

Sampdoria was wasteful in front of goal, while Genoa managed to put just four shots on target, although three found the net as Francesco Lodi's free kick in the 66th capped the scoring.
