Oakland Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker was scratched from Sunday's scheduled start against the Texas Rangers due to an illness, the team has announced.
Tommy Milone drew the assignment in place of Parker, who was riding a 19- start unbeaten streak into Sunday's matchup. The young right-hander has gone 9-0 with a 2.61 earned run average since his last defeat, which came to the Rangers in Arlington on May 22.
Milone has spent most of the season in Oakland's rotation, but was sent to the minors in late August. The lefty has made just one appearance since being recalled from Triple-A, a one-inning stint at Minnesota this past Wednesday.
In 24 starts plus that relief effort, Milone has compiled a 10-9 record with a 4.31 ERA.
