DeMarcus Ware's first game as a defensive end ended without him making a tackle.
The Cowboys beat the Giants 36-31, but it's just the second time Ware hasn't made a tackle in his eight years in the NFL. The other was the fifth game of his rookie season in 2005.
Coach Jason Garrett doesn't believe Ware is a "sack or nothing" guy on the outside of the new four-man front under first-year defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Garrett says Ware's pressure played a role in three interceptions for Dallas last weekend, and is sure Ware will be making tackles soon enough. Ware also will try to snap a three-game streak without a sack Sunday at Kansas City — his longest since the end of 2011.
