After years of searching, Gabe Lynn has finally found a home in Oklahoma's secondary.
Lynn's comfort level while playing free safety is a key reason why No. 14 Oklahoma (2-0) has allowed only seven points combined in wins over Louisiana-Monroe and West Virginia.
The Sooners will look for a third straight strong defensive effort Saturday when they host Tulsa (1-1).
Lynn has spent the last three seasons bouncing around between cornerback and "nickelback" in the Sooners' secondary. Now that Lynn is playing free safety, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops says Lynn "is really starting to kind of come into his own as a player."
Lynn earned Big 12 Conference defensive player of the week honors against West Virginia after making three tackles, intercepting a pass and recovering a fumble.
