Sabres sign RFA Hodgson to multi-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres and restricted free-agent forward Cody Hodgson agreed to a multi-year contract extension on Wednesday.

No terms of the pact were disclosed, but Hodgson himself left a message on the Sabres' official Twitter account saying, "Hey Sabres fans, I'm excited to let you know that I'm going to be a Buffalo Sabre for the next six years."

Hodgson totaled 15 goals and 34 points over 48 games for Buffalo last season, his third NHL campaign.

"We are extremely excited to have signed Cody to a long-term deal," Sabres general manager Darcy Regier said. "We feel he is going to be an important piece of our organization's success in the future and look forward to watching him develop as a player."

Originally a first-round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2008, the 23- year-old native of Toronto has compiled 35 goals and 77 points in 139 regular- season contests, adding one assist in 12 playoff appearances.
