Penn State suddenly has some options in the backfield.

That's just fine with coach Bill O'Brien. The Nittany Lions (2-0) had three running backs burst through with big games in their win against Eastern Michigan last Saturday. Bill Belton and Akeel Lynch each rushed for 108 yards. And Belton and Zach Zwinak both scored two touchdowns.

Zwinak has yet to get going a year after his breakthrough season. He was the 22nd 1,000-yard rusher in Penn State history but has only 104 yards rushing this season. But the potential is there.

O'Brien says he likes having multiple options in the backfield, and believes it's important to have all three playing well heading into Saturday's game against Central Florida.

Belton, Lynch and Zwinak help ease the pressure on freshman quarterback Christian Hackenberg, off to one of the best starts in program history.
