Washington State has promoted Rod Jensen to assistant men's basketball coach, taking the place of Ben Johnson, who recently left the program.

Washington State coach Ken Bone announced the decision on Monday. Jensen was hired earlier this year as the Cougars director of player development. He had been the head coach at College of Idaho for three seasons before joining the Washington State staff. Jensen led College of Idaho to its first winning season in four years last season.

Jensen was a long-time assistant at Boise State before becoming the Broncos head coach in 1995 and compiling a 109-93 record. After Boise State, Jensen was an assistant at Virginia and UNC Greensboro before returning to the Northwest.
