Quarterback Munchie Legaux is getting more tests on his injured left knee while Brendon Kay gets ready to take over the starting job for Cincinnati.
Legaux hurt the knee during the fourth quarter of a 45-17 loss at Illinois on Saturday. His left leg bending awkwardly on a hit, and he was taken to a hospital in Urbana, Ill.
Legaux was transferred to a hospital in Cincinnati on Sunday. Coach Tommy Tuberville said he was having tests on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Kay will take over at quarterback when the Bearcats (1-1) host Northwestern State on Saturday night. The sixth-year senior was the incumbent before he developed a sore shoulder during camp, limiting his practice. Tuberville said that Kay's shoulder is close to normal.
