Cincinnati QB Legaux hospitalized with leg injury

Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux will remain hospitalized overnight after suffering a potentially career-ending lower leg injury in Saturday's game against Illinois.

Legaux had to be carted off the field in the fourth quarter of the Bearcats' 45-17 loss to the Illini after being hit by a pair of Illinois players while attempting to pass. The senior was on the ground for several minutes writhing in obvious pain before having his left leg immobilized.

The Cincinnati athletic department has yet to disclose the nature of the injury, though multiple reports have indicated that Legaux fractured his leg. He was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in nearby Urbana to undergo further evaluation.

Legaux served as the Bearcats' starting quarterback for much of last season and threw for 1,716 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while finishing third on the team with 335 rushing yards. He had 145 yards passing and 55 rushing while accounting for two touchdowns in last Saturday's season- opening win over Purdue.

Prior to exiting Saturday's contest, Legaux completed 17-of-31 passes for 237 yards with one touchdown and an interception against the Illini.
