Five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, announced the birth of their second daughter on Friday.
Johnson, who is the series points leader with one race remaining before the Chase for the Sprint Cup, will miss Friday's activities at Richmond International Raceway, according to a team release. Regan Smith will serve as interim driver for practice and qualifying, with Johnson returning for Saturday night's race.
His daughter was born at 2:02 a.m. ET in Charlotte and weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces.
