Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman/outfielder Martin Prado has been voted the National League Player of the Month for August.
Prado hit .375 with 30 RBI and 19 runs scored over the course of the month.
The 29-year-old highlighted his stellar month with a four-hit, four-RBI contest in the Diamondbacks' win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Aug. 7. Prado tied the game with a two-run homer in the third inning before ripping the eventual game-winning, two-run double in the eighth off Rays closer Fernando Rodney.
Prado also had a four-hit effort later in the month when the D'backs cruised to a 15-5 rout of the Pirates on Aug. 17. With 30 RBI last month, Prado eclipsed his previous career high of 70 in a season. He currently has 72 RBI on the year.
Other players who received votes for the monthly honor include Washington's Jayson Werth, Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen, St. Louis' Carlos Beltran and San Francisco's Brandon Belt.
