Sylvia Fowles from the Chicago Sky and Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx were named the WNBA's Eastern and Western Conference players of the month for games played in August.

Fowles helped the Sky go 9-3 for the month, averaging 18.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per contest, while her .606 field goal percentage and 135 total rebounds led the WNBA. Fowles had been previously named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Aug. 19 and Eastern Conference Player of the Month for July.

Moore capped a successful month, during which she was twice named the top player in the West (for Aug. 12 and Aug. 26) by averaging a conference-best 21.6 points per game. Moore eclipsed the 15-point mark in 10 of her team's 12 games while ranking first league-wide in three-pointers made with 30, as well as first in the West in three-point field goal percentage at .500.
