The Seattle Mariners activated rookie catcher Mike Zunino from the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
Zunino, the third overall pick in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, is batting seventh and starting behind the plate in Monday's matchup. It will be his first major league appearance since fracturing the hamate bone in his left hand in a July 25 game against Minnesota.
The 22-year-old had a five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Tacoma prior to his return. Zunino appeared in 29 games with the Mariners before the injury and batted .242 with two home runs and 10 RBI.
